Recap supports your Bitpanda Pro history even though the exchange has moved on: Bitpanda Pro was spun off as One Trading in June 2023, and Recap brings that history into your crypto tax calculations. Import your records to build a complete picture and automate your taxes. From 2026, tax authorities are widening the automatic reporting of crypto under frameworks such as the OECD's Cryptoasset Reporting Framework (CARF), so keeping an accurate record matters more than ever.

Why Bitpanda Pro tax can be difficult to calculate manually
Bitpanda Pro was Bitpanda's crypto exchange, and in June 2023 it was rebranded and spun off as an independent company, One Trading. That history is the first thing that makes the tax position fiddly, because your records can sit under more than one name. A few things tend to trip people up:
Common pitfalls
- Records under two names. Older trades may sit under the Bitpanda Pro name and later ones under One Trading, so a complete picture can mean combining more than one export.
- Every trade is a disposal. Selling crypto or swapping one coin for another is a disposal for capital gains, even when no fiat is involved, and an active account can rack up a lot of them.
- Reward income. Rewards such as staking are treated as income at their value on the day they arrive, and that same value becomes their acquisition cost, so only later growth counts as a gain. They are easy to overlook alongside your trades.
- Matching transfers. Moves between your own Bitpanda accounts and accounts elsewhere have to be matched so they are not mistaken for taxable disposals.
How to import your Bitpanda Pro data into Recap
Recap does not currently have a direct One Trading integration, and the old Bitpanda Pro API connection no longer works. To import your history, export it from One Trading (or use any saved Bitpanda Pro statements), convert it to Recap's CSV format, and import it through a Custom Account; our step by step guide walks you through it. If you already have Bitpanda Pro transactions in Recap, keep that account so your history stays part of your tax calculations. Recap classifies and values every transaction with our fair-market valuation engine, applying the tax rules for your jurisdiction.
How are Bitpanda Pro transactions taxed?
Tax treatment depends on the transaction type and where you are tax resident. Here is how the main Bitpanda Pro activities are generally treated:
| Transaction type | CGT disposal | CGT acquisition | Income |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deposits | CGT disposal: no. The deposit itself creates no disposal. Any deposit fee charged in crypto is recorded as a separate fee disposal of the fee asset; a zero fee generates nothing. | CGT acquisition: no | Income: no |
| Withdrawals | CGT disposal: no. The withdrawal itself creates no disposal. A withdrawal fee paid in crypto is recorded as a separate fee disposal of the fee asset. | CGT acquisition: no | Income: no |
| Buying crypto with fiat | CGT disposal: no. The fiat side is recorded as a disposal but fiat is not a chargeable asset, so no gain arises. A trade fee charged in crypto (e.g. BEST) is a separate fee disposal of that asset. | CGT acquisition: yes. Bought crypto enters the section 104 pool at the trade value. Recap's default: the fee is added to the acquisition cost. Configurable: with 'deduct trade fees' on, a fee in the bought asset is netted off the acquired quantity instead. | Income: no |
| Crypto to crypto | CGT disposal: yes. The crypto sold is disposed of at the trade's valued amount. Any crypto fee is additionally a separate fee disposal. | CGT acquisition: yes. The crypto bought enters the section 104 pool at the same valued amount. Recap's default (for portfolios created after 25 May 2022): the quote side drives valuation. Configurable: valuation can be taken from the disposed side instead. | Income: no |
| Selling crypto for fiat | CGT disposal: yes. The crypto sold is disposed of at the trade value, with the trade fee deducted as an allowable cost. A fee paid in another crypto is also its own fee disposal. | CGT acquisition: no. The fiat received is recorded as the acquired side but fiat is not a chargeable asset, so it does not create a taxable pool entry. | Income: no |
| Staking rewards | CGT disposal: no | CGT acquisition: yes. The reward also enters the section 104 pool at the same market value, so it has a cost when later sold. | Income: yes. Recap's Bitpanda Pro sync does not import staking data, because the API only returns trades, deposits and withdrawals. Rewards added by CSV or entered manually and categorised as a staking reward are treated as income at market value. |
| Transferring between your own accounts | CGT disposal: no. Moving your own coins is not a disposal. The network or withdrawal fee is a disposal of the fee asset, and if less arrives than was sent the shortfall is recorded as a zero-value disposal. | CGT acquisition: no. If more arrives than was sent, the excess is recorded as an acquisition at market value. | Income: no |
This table shows how Recap classifies each transaction type by default. Some treatments — such as the acquisition cost used for airdrops — are configurable in Recap. This is general information, not tax advice; consult a qualified tax professional about your circumstances.
This table shows Recap's default classification for common Bitpanda Pro transactions. It is not an exhaustive schedule or a ruling. Treatment depends on your circumstances and jurisdiction, and you can recategorise any transaction where yours differ. Confirm your position with a qualified tax adviser.
Rewards such as staking are generally treated as income at the value you receive them, with any later disposal also potentially creating a capital gain. The wider Bitpanda platform also offers stocks, metals and other assets, which follow their own tax rules and sit outside this crypto view.

What's in your Bitpanda Pro tax report
Recap turns your full Bitpanda Pro and One Trading history into a single tax report: capital gains, losses and income worked out under the rules for your jurisdiction, every reward valued on the day it arrived, both eras combined, and a clear year-by-year summary you can file yourself or hand straight to your accountant.
Common Bitpanda Pro tax challenges and how Recap solves them
Bitpanda Pro accounts produce a few recurring tax problems. Here is how Recap handles each one:
How Recap handles each one
- Records under two names. History spread across the Bitpanda Pro and One Trading eras is easy to leave incomplete. Recap combines your exports into a single tax position.
- High-volume trading. Every sale or swap is a disposal, and they add up quickly. Recap calculates the gain or loss on each one automatically.
- Reward income. Staking and other rewards land as separate income events. Recap values each one at the point you receive it, so none are missed.
- Internal transfers. Recap matches transfers between your own Bitpanda accounts and your other accounts so they are not taxed as disposals.
- Missing historical data. Older Bitpanda accounts can hold years of trades and rewards across multiple exports. Recap pulls them together so earlier activity is not overlooked.
Why Bitpanda Pro users choose Recap
Bitpanda Pro users often choose Recap because a single history can span the Bitpanda Pro and One Trading eras, a long list of spot trades, and a steady stream of rewards. Rather than stitching those exports together by hand, you can bring your One Trading export into Recap through a Custom Account and see your gains, losses and income reconciled in one report, ready to file or share with your accountant.
Whether Bitpanda Pro shares account data with HMRC is a separate question, and we answer it in does Bitpanda Pro report to HMRC.
