At Recap, we’ve always been firm believers in Bitcoin. Our founders have been involved with Bitcoin since 2013, and while we support the accounting needs of individuals and businesses across a range of cryptocurrencies, we’ve always recognised that Bitcoin is something special. With a market cap of $1.2 trillion and the potential to become the reserve currency of the internet, Bitcoin is not just another digital asset - it’s a revolution.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that Recap has become the first gold member of Bitcoin Policy UK (BPUK). Our decision to join BPUK as a gold member is rooted in our admiration for the incredible dedication of the team there. They’ve achieved remarkable feats for the UK Bitcoin community, all while working with limited resources and gaining little recognition. It’s time their efforts are supported and celebrated, and we’re proud to be the ones stepping up.

Why we’re backing Bitcoin Policy UK

Bitcoin Policy UK is on a mission to advocate for sensible Bitcoin policy in the UK and beyond. What makes them stand out is the sheer determination of their team members, many of whom have devoted themselves to this cause without drawing salaries or claiming expenses. They’ve been representing the UK at Bitcoin events worldwide, writing for major publications like Forbes, and conducting essential research and policy papers - all off their own backs.

Their commitment to Bitcoin advocacy, even with virtually no budget, speaks volumes about their passion for Bitcoin’s principles and its future. They’re not just talking about Bitcoin; they’re building the foundation for it in the UK. By fostering a supportive environment for individuals, businesses, and policymakers, BPUK is enabling a better understanding of Bitcoin’s potential.

Paying tribute to the champions of BPUK

Bitcoin Policy UK Team - Bill Aronson, Susie Violet Ward, Freddie New | Recap Blog

In our journey to become the first corporate gold member of BPUK, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with some truly remarkable individuals who’ve driven the mission forward. Here’s a shout-out to three of BPUK's key figures:

Bill Aronson - CEO of BPUK

I’ve been fortunate to connect with Bill, and it never ceases to amaze me how much he gets done with very limited resources. As BPUK’s CEO, he’s developed the organisation into a respected industry trade group, capable of promoting Bitcoin policy throughout the UK at scale. Beyond this, he’s authored a novel on Bitcoin, The Cathedral, and runs his own startup full-time. Bill’s ability to lead and innovate under such constraints is truly remarkable.

Susie Violet Ward - Head of Mining at BPUK

I had the pleasure of meeting Susie at events in London and the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville. As BPUK’s Head of Mining, she manages to balance a full-time job and a busy family life while still going all out for Bitcoin advocacy. Whether she’s writing insightful articles for Forbes or taking on the mainstream media’s disinformation about Bitcoin, Susie pulls no punches. Her drive and tenacity are commendable, and her commitment to educating the public makes her a powerful force in the UK Bitcoin community.

Freddie New - Head of Policy at BPUK

Freddie is another incredible advocate I’ve gotten to know through his excellent policy papers on Bitcoin. A busy lawyer with a young family, Freddie dedicates his evenings to crafting well-researched policy documents that both inform and challenge the status quo on Bitcoin adoption in the UK. His work is crucial in shaping a more informed policy environment for Bitcoin, and his dedication continues to drive important conversations about Bitcoin’s place in the financial world.

Why Recap is stepping up

At Recap, we know how important it is to support grassroots initiatives that push towards a more inclusive financial future. Bitcoin Policy UK embodies that spirit, pushing forward despite the odds. We believe it’s time their efforts are recognised and supported. By becoming BPUK’s first gold member , we’re aiming to help them expand their reach and impact.

As a gold member, Recap is proud to stand alongside BPUK in supporting their groundbreaking mission. We’re excited to see what they can achieve with more resources and the backing of those who believe in Bitcoin’s potential.

Looking forward

This partnership is just the beginning. By supporting BPUK, we want to contribute to the growth and understanding of Bitcoin in the UK and beyond. We’re optimistic about the future and believe that, with organisations like BPUK leading the charge, Bitcoin will continue to strengthen its position as a key asset in the global economy.

Together, we can drive forward the policies and understanding needed to help Bitcoin reach its full potential. We’re looking forward to working closely with BPUK and are excited about the journey ahead.
